The Laboratory for the Analysis of Societies and Powers in Africa and Diasporas (LASPAD) is pleased to invite you to a seminar on State Terrorism and Political Violence in Africa.
The seminar will be led by Dr. Serigne Moustapha Bassirou NIANG, a lecturer and researcher in Public Law at UGB and a founding member of the Collective of Academics for Democracy (CUD). It will be moderated by Ndèye Khady DIOP, a doctoral student in Political Science at UGB and a project manager at LASPAD.
How can the concept of state terrorism be applied in the African context? This seminar aims to explore the relevance and implications of this concept for selected African states. We will examine the criteria that define state terrorism and assess whether and how these criteria manifest themselves on the continent. Through the analysis of concrete cases, we will highlight state practices that can be perceived as forms of systematic violence against populations, as well as the power and governance dynamics that contribute to these phenomena.
