The Citizen Barometer of Security focuses on understanding human security issues in Africa, particularly in regions such as the Maghreb and the Sahel, where political stability is often threatened by violent insurgent movements.

The Barometer collects the opinions, needs, and expectations of citizens regarding security. It uses a structured questionnaire to understand how people perceive security in their environments.

Strengthen civil society advocacy

The Barometer equips civil society organizations with concrete evidence tosupport their advocacy for policies and actions that improve security. The data collected serves as objective proof to back their efforts.

Identify trends and emerging threats

Through regular monitoring of public perceptions of security, the Barometer can identify emerging trends and threats, enabling authorities and organizations to anticipate and respond more effectively to these challenges.

Promote participatory and democratic governance

The Barometer encourages citizen participation in political life by gathering their opinions. It advocates for a more inclusive and deliberative governance model, reinforcing the citizen dimension in security governance.
